Meet Eric

I am a marketing and digital media strategist with a passion for building relationships between companies, brands and consumers. Or, put more appropriately, I like to build relationships between people. Companies have an amazing opportunity to extend social media well beyond marketing and communications – to truly become more human, open, trustworthy and transparent. I am particularly excited about working (and living!) in the digital space because of the changes and advancements that are occurring.

Currently based in Toronto, I am a Partner Marketing Manager for Asigra. Asigra specializes in cloud data protection, backup and recovery for SMB and large enterprises across the globe, leveraging a network of Managed Services Providers (MSPs). I am developing marketing and communications programs targeted at MSPs, as well as providing marketing consultation to MSPs – helping them leverage traditional, digital and social strategies to increase sales and market share

I also do freelance project work. Past clients have included Powernoodle, Chaordix, and Jungle Swing Productions. If you are in need of some marketing consultation, please feel free to get in touch.

Prior to moving to Toronto, I worked full-time as a Social Media Manager and Online Community Manager for Chaordix – a crowdsourcing technology provider and thought leader. Based in Calgary, my responsibilities encompassed planning, recruiting, generating content for, moderating and analyzing online communities for clients. Clients included Monster/Proximity and FutureBrand.

Most of my life has been spent in Vancouver, and I am a Vancouverite at heart!

In 2009, I became the Director of Social Media for the BC Chapter of the American Marketing Association, a 400+ member organization. I led our initial foray into social media – developing a content-focused strategy to build relationships with BC’s marketing community through Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter.

I got my start in traditional marketing, through which I learned a great deal about consumer research, analysis and branding. I relish helping to shape the story of a brand. My previous employers include Texcan, Ethical Funds (now part of NEI Investments) and Swiss Water Decaffeinated Coffee Company.

In terms of schooling, I earned a B.Sc. at Simon Fraser University in Management and Systems Science – a combination of Business, Economics, Computing Science, Mathematics  and Statistics courses.

My personal interests include running, skiing, yoga and swing dancing.  Yes, swing dancing! I ran the 2007 Vancouver Marathon, and am hoping to enter another one later this year.
